I used the method sometime back and do not remember exact steps currently: The idea is during early boot, even though you do not see any kernel prints on the screen they are actually logged in the kernel log buffer. So we'll try to dump this buffer 1. Find address of symbol __log_buf from system.map 2. get virt_to_phy(above_address) 3. Reset the board, most likely memory contents will remain intact. 4. At u-boot prompt do "md <physical address>" This should give you the last print from the kernel and we will know where it got stuck in your case Thanks > > U-Boot 1.1.3 (Mar 15 2006 - 11:42:19) > > U-Boot code: 81080000 -> 81097320 BSS: -> 810A0230 > RAM Configuration: > Bank #0: 80000000 256 MB > MY AMD Flash: 16 MB > In: serial > Out: serial > Err: serial > ARM Clock :- 283MZ > DDR Clock :- 189MZ > Hit any key to stop autoboot: 0 > BOOTP broadcast 1 > Filename 'uImage_debug'. > Load address: 0x80700000 > Loading: > ################################################################# > > ################################################################# > > ################################################################# > > ################################################################# > > ################################################################# > ###################### > done > Bytes transferred = 1774564 (1b13e4 hex) > ## Booting image at 80700000 ... > Image Name: Linux-2.6.20-rc5-omap1-ga34aab77 > Image Type: ARM Linux Kernel Image > (uncompressed) > Data Size: 1774500 Bytes = 1.7 MB > Load Address: 80008000 > Entry Point: 80008000 > Verifying Checksum ...
