Now that's just plain weird.  I've just regenerated fontconfig's cache
and restarted iceweasel (3.5.13-1) and it still reports TeX.

As far as I can tell, not since Jun 18 2010, when I upgraded from
0.9~2007.10.31-5 -> 1.0.0-1.

It's possible, but I doubt it, somehow.

Another possible thought: which website were you using for your test?
Perhaps there are different versions of MathJax installed which cause
the difference?
