No its not, "amd64" is amd's official name for the architecture and has been since ~ April 2003, when the first actual chips were released. Look at www.amd64.org, nearly all news events that have occured since then refer to the arch as "amd64" the only ones that don't are when they refer to a dist that uses a different naming. Also, they have not gone back and changed all the old documents produced before that time, but the arch is definitely officially called "amd64" now. Chris
