It's only knowing that there is undocumented functionality available in an intermediate release to a beta that seems to be the issue. Normally most wouldn't even know about the features until the next full beta was released. Personally I'm happy to see pre-release functionality available so that more feedback can go into these tools prior to locking it down in a full beta release. I'm also quite happy to see problems fixed almost instantaneously in some cases.
It does seem that major functionality changes should probably be introduced in new beta versions instead of just interim releases so that users can choose whether to implement certain functionality instead of being forced to take both that and bug fixes that might be affecting them. The tradeoff here though is that you get fast updates and quicker access to new functionality this way. It seems in this case that the new functionality wasn't really intended to be announced, but was discovered by way of an honest answer to a question.
The only difference though between a beta and an interim release seems to be the supporting documentation, but again, using either a beta or an interim release is not recommended for normal use. If this was another company, you might wait months for a simple bug fix that gets bogged down by the system. I definitely don't want that, especially since I can choose to only use full releases.
I think we should all thank Scott for responding to the desires of his customers, wish him a happy Thanksgiving, and help each other out with questions such as this in lieu of the documentation (for the moment).

It used to be that any FEATURE ADDITIONS would be done in a new beta version and the fact that the features were added were listed in the 'readme'.
If a beta version needed fixing of newly created bugs, then there would be intermediate releases for that particular beta.
Every once in a while, a beta would result in a new official release.
To my dismay, things have gotten a bit out of hand. Now we have 20 or 30 intermediate releases - which in reality are several "new" betas, because suddenly there are new features added between intermediate releases so that any intermediate release has no resemblance to the original 'beta' with the same version number.
Scott - can't we go back to a more easily trackable version numbering / change mangement scheme?
