Now I'm curious! Considering everything that was "officially" said
about D8 and D9, what is it about what has been officially said about D2006
that makes you even consider it will be any better?
One thing Borland is NOT short of it seems is a loyal fan base. And
I admit to having been such a loyal believer myself, but when you get right
down to it, the things that made such loyal followers out of so many of us
were accomplished in the first half of Delphi's tenure! Since then they
have ceased being the innovators they used to be and have become the
followers!
I thought I was being too loyal when after a useless D8 I still went
out and bought D9! But you're hooked even worse than I was because you have
two versions sitting on your shelf proving that your loyalty is misplaced!
Loyalty is something only family gets without constant
reaffirmation. Loyalty to anyone or anything else has to be earned at every
turn of the road, and Borland has made two left turns without doing so! How
and why do they rate such loyalty from you?

Delphi will include ECO in all versions? Thtat's *GRATE* news! I followed
ECO's evolution from the time it was named BOLD but it was allways a bit out
of reach for my small teem. I'm looking forward to something model-driven
that helps me create high quality code faster!
Delphi 2006 will also include Together in all versions? That's not so
important for me because I use JediVCS. Also a Borland Made versioning
system that's better integrated in the IDE might be a better choise for us.
I'm not an eterprise developer, I'm just a professional programmer that
works with a small teem and makes money out of using Delphi. I do work on a
number of programms, some of them fairly large (over 100,000 lines of code),
and as is probably the case with many other profesional programmers around
the world, I've got more WORK then TIME. Allmost anything that helps me
create better code faster is wellcomed (as long as it can be learnt
easilly - my "workforce" is allways changing).
As for Delphi 8 and Delphi 2005? While I am a bit fanatic about Delphi and I
do like everything that's Delphi-related, I keep those two in the box.
They're not offering me enogh to buy them + all the components for all the
teem, so I've got them but I don't use them :) I just hope Delphi will
survive those "down times" and will again deliver a grate IDE. And when the
time comes for me to upgrade to D2006, I hope I'll be able to recompile all
of my 3rd party components...
