A few questions:
I note that the data snap component would seem to have deployment licensing
costs over and above these prices. Am I correct?
Are there other deployment licensing costs associated with this release?
What is the difference between BDE SQL Links and SQL Links?
As I can the that the enterprise edition is growing way beyond the needs of
our company, can one get a separate distribution licence for the SQL Links
drivers, and if so what are the costs?
Can one carry forward the free SQL Links driver distribution of an earlier
enterprise version if one downgrades it to a professional version upgrade?
Does Delphi 6 have some form of licence control in it?
A few personal notes:
I bought Borland C++ v3 and Delphi v1 Client Server out of my own back
pocket so that I could master these tools. Having done this I convinced my
employers to buy into the products. I certainly can't afford to buy at these
prices out of my back pocket! Am I getting poorer, or are has the entrance
barrier slowly been increasing?
How am I to persuade my company that the xxxSnap tools are the way to go
when I personally can't afford to buy an enterprise version to learn about
them? I see this as a kind of chicken and egg scenario that may mean
diminishing evangelical developer support...
Martin
PS: Having just compared these prices to our MSDN subscription price I can
see that it is probably time to start brushing up on my C# skills!
