Like many of you who don't use Delphi all day long, I'd like to minimize the time it takes to load. For some reason, I'm unsuccessful in what--I think--ought to be fairly simple. Perhaps you can help me. Here's what I'd like to do ...

When Delphi starts, I'd like it to load only a minimal number of installed packages/components (i.e., the ones you can check in the Component|Install Packages... menu). When I begin a new project, I would still like to have only a minimal number of packages installed. At that point, I'd like to be able to choose the packages/components I'd like to be part of my project.

The hard part is saving all this. The *next* time I load Delphi, I'd *still* like it to load a minimum number of packages, and when I reopen my project have *only* the packages I'd previously selected load.

I seem to be more successful at having Delphi start with a minimum # of loaded packages then having my choices for an individual project saved, i.e., the next time I load a project I find all the packages reloaded again.

I feel a little dumb asking such a simple question--but I'd rather feel dumb and save time then feel smart as I wait forever for projects to start :-)

Thanks, as always -- Al
