Yeah, puzzling thing is this: I have a dual boot pc, with XP on both. One is my development boot, one is for games/entertainment.
ASP.NET in D8 dies under dev boot, but not in other boot, so it must be driver related, probably to do with an update to I.E or something like that. However, I guess like you say short answer is definitely to reinstall the dev boot, which is probably about time I did that anyway. I might try uninstalling the QFixes for I.E and see if that helps.
