Hi, I'll add my voice in support of having a version of links-for-copying that's NOT an href.
While I'm perfectly competent to do right-click -> copy-link, if a link's main purpose is for copying, I always prefer something that's *not* an href, because right-click -> copy-link requires a mental context switch that select -> cmd+C doesn't. So much so that when a url I want to copy is both in the text and in the link I often flounder about for 10-15 seconds trying to copy the link without clicking. When I try to get people who *don't* spend their lives sitting in front of computers to copy links, I've observed the same pattern.
