I'm now remembering the discussion and I think there was extra work involved around automatically subscribing users to collections they had yet to see. More specifically, users should first have a chance to inspect the collection before subscribing to it.
yea i know. that's why my proposal in the previous message included the clause "if the user is logged in and already subscribed to the collection".
A different way to look at the issue is: When would an user want to hand out a non-ticket [Chandler] URL versus a ticket [Chandler] URL? As in, what if users only gave out ticket-URLs? Then, if the user is already: + Logged into their Chandler Hub / Chandler Server account; and + Subscribed to the collection in question; then we just log them in
being logged in or not logged in is pretty much irrelevant to the end user except inasmuch as that state dictates the ui they get for interacting with the collection. i argue that users who are logged in and who have subscribed to a collection no longer need to see the limited-functionality "ticket view" of a collection, even if that is the url they used to re-enter the application. they can easily be redirected to the more featureful "regular" view.
Also, for Preview, won't users have access to the ticket-[Chandler] URLs from the Collection Details Dialog because Chandler Desktop will have switched over to the new sharing format?
only for collections they've subscribed to, which they are forced to provide a ticket for not for collections they've created themselves, which they can access simply by virtue of being logged in. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Open Source Applications Foundation "Design" mailing list http://lists.osafoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/design
