I completely agree with Michael and Adrien here: I would rather have a
local reading list as well, and syncing would be an extra on top.

Personally I would favour Wallabag over Pocket, but I understand that
it can be useful and can be considered to fit well with the “we sync the
things Firefox can do as well” idea, and I wouldn't be against having support
for Pocket.

BTW, the reader mode currently available in Ephy is already one step in the
direction; I've found myself manually saving some thing to read later with
the “Save As...”, then loading the “.mhtml” and immediately switching the
reader mode. We would need some UI and automation over this manual process 
:-)
