Woops, my bad... I was getting my CDDA and my CDDB mixed up, of  
course :)  I see now why CDDA is required for playing CDs.  I'd still  
like to know more about why it's not recommended to build it, though,  
and whether there's a timeline for when it /will/ be stable enough to  
use.
