Once you did this you'll have to modify and reflash your boot image,
this link should help with that:

phone, I cannot vouch for it but there might be hope there)

Wow Gabriele,
where on earth did you find that fellows blog?!? I struggled for a good week before I found Edu & Ginn's posts that put everything together. That's why I went through that rather long post to Roland, I didn't think anyone had that posted anywhere on the web because I didn't find much! I even tried googling just a minute ago and that blog doesn't show up unless you very specifically search with that fellows name (Chellinsky) and even then I only got a reddit article that referenced his blog. How do we get his google rating up? because other ZTE Open owners should be able to easily find that post. After a week of tinkering in my off work hours I had a VERY big sense of accomplishment after I cobbled together my first working Open build but I would've traded that sense of accomplishment for the blog address since it would've had me
up and running on the first day in 'maybe' an hour at most LOL!

He does do a couple things I'm not keen on like using CWM and he says to place the "chmod" lines in init.rc after line ?280? The place I used in init.rc is between lines 111 & 112 which I found by looking in a working boot.img found on XDA from an untrusted source (the poster doesn't tell who built the boot.img so I didn't trust it enough to run it but I looked in it for answers). I couldn't seem to get the boot.img working with any other placement for the "chmod" lines btw, I assume since
the system partition is remounted RO after line 111.

To confirm I have gotten both 1.4 and (accidentally) 1.5 running on my Open. I built 1.4 on purpose and played with it for a minute. 1.5 I accidentally built after I setup my build environment for the second time (I'm not familiar with git so I screwed something up and decided to start over). I just used config and build without the BRANCH= option and then flashed it and found 1.5. Just like 1.4 I played for a minute then went back to 1.3. I don't know if the current source tree can build working 1.4/1.5 for Inari but I know that my tree hasn't been updated since I originally set it up weeks ago (so if anybody wants to know the version of the source I've built with, just tell me how to find it and I'll share). I still have the 1.4 & 1.5 builds laying around but I haven't played with them much so I can't comment on their stability.
