Stephen,

What's the problem? What are you upset with? I'm really not certain what point you are trying to make here. Mostly I think it's just because you want to make my life more difficult. If you don't think enough information has been presented to the community, I am sorry. I have attempted to be very clear and transparent in my proposals for the community.

Do you disagree with the closure of Avalon? If so, please state why. I have brought up the matter several times and you have not once put forward any objections. Neither has *anyone* else in the community. So where is this lack of consensus?

I brought the proposal first to the community, then to the PMC, and finally to the Board. In my report to the Board I explicitly asked that time be granted the Avalon project to complete the transfer of code. I suggested that we have at least a month. If that is not enough time, please explain why and offer another solution.

In fact, the transfer of code could happen _after_ Avalon's closure in which case the closure would have been immediate. But I saw no need and felt it would be in the community's interest to have time for a gradual transition. As you can see, there is really little to do here in Avalon. Most of the work is needed in the projects which will host former Avalon code.

I am acting within the bounds of PMC Chair. In the end, the responsibility for oversight of this project falls to me. It's not fun. No one has really wanted to do it. What is happening now should have been done long ago. So now that we finally have someone who is willing to stick with it and actually get something done, why are you are complaining?
