Even if you use windows, I don't see where the problem is (did not
follow the discussion).

From my POV these instructions are very detailed..
Don't take this personal, but people always complain "this is to
complicated" but usually don't tell what exactly causes the trouble.

Yes, the instructions are detailed, but they don't make sense to me. They seem out of order. I was able to generate and submit my public key, but the "tunneling" part completely lost me. I was trying to use PuTTY. The instructions say:
Start the application.
At the prompt, enter "ssh -2 -x -L 2401:localhost:2401 [EMAIL PROTECTED]"

But when I start PuTTY, there is no prompt, and I don't know how to get one. I only have a Configuration window. I tried following the instructions giving in the links on the OOo website, but at some point they told me to fill in some specific information that I didn't have (or didn't recognise if I did have it).

My experience is that the only problem is that people try to connect
using the tunnel before their key is uploaded to the server causing the
attemt to connect to fail (and any action tried after that failed connection).

I didn't try until after I received word that my key was uploaded.

When using cygwin, you have all the comfort that a unix-shell offers.

So I should try to use that instead of PuTTY? Bah, yet another bloody piece of software to cope with.
