Another question I have for you. Have you tried the oooauthors site
recently.[...]
Most pages in the public FAQ area are taking between 5 and 10 seconds to
load for me today via dial-up access.
For comparison, how long does it take for the FAQ pages under
documentation.openoffice.org?
The first general index page took like 12 seconds. The others took between 3-5
seconds, and the individual faq pages took like 3-5 seconds. Because of the work
I just did, my cache might be aiding my times here.... I should clear my cache,
or test again after a dull period.
The difference in working in FAQs is that the documentation project faqs can be
worked on while off line, where as with OOoAuthors, one must stay on line to do
the work. I get a $22 cap on my local minutes, so I can stay on-line. If that
cap were not there, minutes would matter, and off-line work would be more
accessible to me.
For now, I must go remove snow, so I will come back to FAQs another time...
:)
I played in the download-able FAQ zip file from OOoAuthors a little bit today
too. Your spider script really is nice, Scott. I wanted to be sure to say that
again.
Thank you for all that you do...
Best,
Diane
