No, not necessarily. They just need to update the InternetExplorer (this will
install the necessary bits...) IIRC it is only the DCOM-update that is needed (but I'm not sure about this). So you can install OOo 1.1.4 on win95 when you "update" your windows first.
Ok, I guess the information I read on the download page must be outdated. I wonder if it still there? Yes,it is:
http://download.openoffice.org/index.html
Perhaps I have read more into it than was intended.
But it will not run with a freshly installed Win95, this is true..
Mac users are at 1.1.2, I think.
No, the X11 version is at 1.1.4
And they keep up with the developer snapshots as well. They just finished a build of m83
Ok, I guess I'm not keeping up there as well. The information I have based my understanding upon is here: http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/ooo-osx_downloads.html and I just checked out the US FTP download site, and it offered me 1.1.2.
Oh well. An installation expert I am not. This means that we have outdated FAQs in the list as well, as I updated the answers there to what I found on these download pages.
I guess someone, who knows more than I, will need to update those to something more accurate. I was faking it, just to update the FAQs.
Thank you for pointing out my misunderstandings. Hopefully someone will incorporate this very good information into the FAQ set.
I did remove the inaccurate statements that I recorded in this thread from the updated faq index page.

I guess I will leave the editing preferences to be set by others as well.
Thanx again! :) Diane
