Saransh, I think having asynchronous communication channels in addition to the mailing lists are good and we have a discourse forum set up and configured. You could further help in extending that if you'd like.
You can access at https://discourse.mifos.org/ The Gitter channels work well for conversation desired related to each repo. As Awasum mentioned there is an ASF slack and a Mifos slack but we want our channels to be as open and searchable as possible.
