Hi Charles:

First of all, i have to explain who I am and where i am working:

I'm Frco. Javier Rial Rodríguez, and I work in an institutional project of the galician government to promote and develop Open Source software. One of our goals is the translation of the OpenOffice.org, so in that way OpenOffice can be used in schools, local administration, universities, etc...

Our site name is www.mancomun.org. In this site we have Galician versions of OpenOffice from version 2.0.2 to 2.0.4. We have contacted months ago with Ruben da Silva. We wanted that Ruben da Silva submitted the translation but he didn't. He only put the files on the project gl.openoffice.org but never submitted them to this list.

So it would be fantastic if we can be co-leader of the gl.openoffice.org.. we don't have any answer from Ruben da Silva since 21 December 2006, we asked him to give us the date in which new strings will be frozen for next version, and we didn't receive any answer... now we know that this date is 18 January,, we can't finish the translation on that date... but we will finish it soon.

Some questions:

-When will be uploaded the galician gsi file??? How can we know????
-will be the openoffice translated to galician in new versions of distros like Debian, Fedora, Ubuntu, etc???? This is what we want, we want that all distros can have the openoffice.org in galician,.... Do you understand me???

Sorry about my english, i do my best ;), and lots of thanks

About Mac version: I'm finishing the mac version (X11), no problem with this... I built english version without any problem one week ago, so no problem..

Javi,

perhaps it would be useful for you to become the co-lead of the Galician
Native-Language project? Let me know if you're interested.

If that can help, I've put Eric Bachard, lead of the Mac OSX port of OOo
in copy of this mail. You may be interested by joining the MacOSX team.

Best,
Charles.
