Hi all, With UI and Online Help localization/translation we have been doing a good job, helped and led by Oracle/Sun engineers like Project Lead Rafaella, Ivo and others. Please join me in applauding their efforts and your efforts :)
Now many people from various parts of the world on this planet can use OpenOffice.org in their languages. But if they try to get their "OpenOffice.org installed on their machines" registered and supported, they will meet difficulties. Did you read my blog? http://openoffice.exblog.jp/10450405/ :) As you see, if you want to register your OpenOffice.org, you have to go through all those "English" pages. Businesses with more than 25 employees, which want their OpenOffice.org supported, will soon get lost. If you install or update your recent OpenOffice.org, your browser will open the following pages: http://update.services.openoffice.org/ooo/index.html http://update.services.openoffice.org/ooo/index.html?cid=920899 These pages have the link to http://surveys.services.openoffice.org/ If you want to contribute your feedback and click the link, you will be taken to http://surveys.services.openoffice.org/surveys/index.php?sid=69531 then you can meet the survey in German :) If you have seen https://registration2.services.openoffice.org/RegistrationWeb/OpenOffice.org/default/en_US/register-login.jsp you know this page has the banner "Your feedback helps. Go to the OpenOffice.org survey now." If you click the banner, you can meet "Anwenderumfrage 2009" again even though we now live in 2010 :) http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=111118 http://l10n.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=12244 By the way I can't buy Japanese Oracle Open Office in yen yet. http://openoffice.exblog.jp/10451201/ I am sure they are working hard to improve the shopping site. I liked to recommend StarOffice and StarSuite to SMB, local governments and others, showing the example of Bristol. http://odf.dreamlog.jp/archives/2898199.html http://linuxdevcenter.com/pub/a/linux/2006/02/23/bristol_migration.html I would like to do the same for Oracle Open Office. Now I would like to ask Oracle to help, cooperate and facilitate OpenOffice.org localization project and localization teams to work on localization/translation of those pages I am talking about in my blogs. http://openoffice.exblog.jp/10450405/ http://openoffice.exblog.jp/10451201/ Our aim is that all the people on this planet (on other planets and in interstellar space in the future :)) can use OpenOffice.org in their language, can register their OpenOffice.org in their language, can get support in their language and can buy support in their language. I am CCing this mail to Bizdev.
