because it's fair to start with a blank sheet of paper, because there is
not advantage for no side.
WOW!!!! Sides???
If there are really "sides" in this community then you guys need to be
real careful or your community will implode.
Please, everyone get a grip here, the facts are:
1) Lenya is required to have Project Guidlines by the ASF
2) The guidelines need to be discussed and agreed by *everyone*
3) How the discussion is started is irrelevant
Please, allow me, as an outsider with no "side" at all, to make a
suggestion to help move things on from here:
1) Take a blank piece of paper (well an blank email, with a subject of
[DISCUSS] Lenya Project Guidelines
2) Collect the URLs of a number of project guidelines and add them to
the top of the blank page - clearly mark them as "for inspiration and
research and encourage others to add to the list
3) Take the headings suggested for the contents list by Michi and add
them to the almost blank page
4) Add the bits under these headings that are deemed to be appropriate
from other projects in the ASF, be sure to reference back to the source
so others can follow and encourage others to add (not remove) other
important parts from other guidelines they have read
5) discuss on the mail list
6) create a draft (this is where you try and create words representing
the agreement)
7) repeat steps 5 and 6 until there is agreement
8) vote
9) add any missing headers and repeat steps 3 through 8
I hope this helps get out of the current stalemate.
Ross
