Some people here know my views on web page design and if I had my way we'd
all be viewing plain text. It's not necessarily Flash that is the problem
(although its very name has implications), but once people get their hands
on Rich Media they seem to become dyslexic, autistic or simply a failed fine
art student. There's enough designers who think they're developers without
developers thinking they're designers. I could go on forever, but without a
few pints to dumb your senses, you probably won't want to hear.

I won't touch Dreamweaver and I will never touch Flash or its ilk on an
ecommerce site. Other than that what the hell is an RIA? Something that
requires a rich bandwidth?

On a linux box I`m happy enough with CF5 but would put MX on there for the
extra $500 if I got business to warrant this (and more of these boxes as
well), but locally you can'y beat MX Studio and MX Server. MX is biggest
upgrade of Cf Server since ver1. Basically you cant work with RIA without
it, there's plenty of work there to get a proper handle on this stuff, Rich
Internet Applications using webservices, cfc's and Flash remoting and you
need MX to work properly with this stuff. ...

Tell me more. I don't want to, but I feel pressure to upgrade, even though
there is no specific need to.

How many of us are sticking to CF5 and are perfectly happy with it? How many
felt they had to upgrade and why?

I had a complete nightmare. I was trying to upgrade on IIS but it kept
trying to install on the built in stand alone server. In the end I had
to install it on the stand alone, run the batch file to switch it over
to IIS then change some variable as I run a server with virtual sites.
Can't remember what this setting is or where but I am sure somebody else
will let you know.

It took me all day to do the upgrade and the server was down for all
that time.

Can someone give me some nightmare stories so I know the worst that can
happen with upgrades on live websites.
