Building rich apps in Flash MX can actually save you a massive bandwidth
bill, not the other way around.

Because the UI layer is built on a once off download at the start, it
doesn't need to be redownloaded form the server on every successive stage of
the application. Only the content needs to be downloaded, saving bandwidth
as you aren't dragging down the bloat of HTML on every page call.

Have you seen Macromedia's Pet Shop e-commerce demo?
