Nothing to do with the Lucene.Net library, we're deploying on Azure using Azure Lucene Directory http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsazure/Azure-Library-for-83562538 (the equivalent to FSDirectory, say, for Azure). We'd need to test before upgrading to 3.0.3 and onwards etc. to see if there are any potential problems. 2.9.4 is running smoothly on the Azure cloud platform and pretty quickly by loading the index into a RamDirectory
