Hi All,
This mail is to inform you on marktering activities (and to do's)
in The Netherlands.
Note that the Dutch language project covers both The Netherlands
and Flanders. However not all materials can be used right away in
both countries.
A few lines about myself, to start with.
- At the beginning of 2004 I started a enterprise dedicated to
support OpenOffice.org and StarOffice. The name is Nou&Off:
www.nouenoff.nl. It's a tough job, to get business running, but
progress is there. Before that, amoung others I worked as
professional in supporting MsOffice and developing in VBA.
- I joined in Berlin, together with Arthur Buijs, the Dutch co-lead
(who is on the MarCon list, togehter with Simon, our lead).
- It is clear that, because of both enthousiasm for the programm,
the project ánd commercial interest, I do invest some time in
marketing
So what else is going on here reg. marketing:
- Halfway 2005, I was one of the people that took the initiative to
start BsOOo.nl, which stands for Business Support OpenOffice.org
Netherlands. See http://www.bsooo.nl/english.html BsOOo.nl started
at July 6th 2005.
- We (BsOOo.nl and others active in the Dutch project) translated
the page with features for 2.0 (http://nl.openoffice.org/nieuw-
in-2.html) and are working on the full 37 page document.
- Arthur and Simon took the initiative to organise a OOo Regicon,
which was held at November 23 last year.
http://nl.openoffice.org/regicon/regicon.html
- Press releasees reg. 2.0 and 2.01 had been send out.
On our to do-list:
- more martketing materials, obviously mostly translations from the
main-sources;
- a list with (reference) projects;
- informing our press contacts on a more regular base;
(see my recent note on this:
http://marketing.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?
list=dev&msgNo=22199 )
I think it is good to find as much paralells with the international
marketing project so that all can benefit.
Thanks for this excellent update! It's good to learn how this
project is doing. We tried for a short while to get general updates
but the problem is that after two or three, it gets tiring and people
find better things to do. Perhaps focusing on *marketing* endeavours
is the way to go.
One of the things I noted above was your emphasis on business
support. Have you joined our BizDev project? or been listed there as
a consultant? It's a project sort of seeking a raison d'être but one
thing it's interested in is helping businesses in their deployment
and use of OOo. The url: http://bizdev.openoffice.org/
Also, have you and Simon and Arthur considered submitting a proposal
for the next OOoCon? :-)
Ciao,
Louis
Keep up the good work,
greetings,
