I suggest extending the idea so the database will also contain sub-projects and activities in the marketing project that are waiting for volunteers. Maybe it could in fact be a project management tool that kept track of the status of all sub-projects and activities and kept an overview of who's currently doing what. Maybe a web-based tool suitable for this already exists as an open source product...I guess i does...
