Hi Graham, > We'll get there :)
of course. Somethings we need a little punching in the project, but basically it works. ;-) > But the merchandise has to be made somewhere... It will be made at a Sun vendor inside the US or Canada, don't know where exactly. > Then shipped to someone > That someone has to pay the local Duties Excise and taxes on the merchandise. > (Ask Bernhard Dippold and John McCreesh what happens when you send this sort > of thing through German customs for instance. I sent 4 polo shirts to > Bernhard in Germany before the 2006 conf. It cost a fortune... something > like 75 Euros to clear the parcel through customs. The cut off point for > Germany I think is about 45 Euro value) The issue with the duties is valid - you are right, I forgot about that. I'm just about to check that, what options we have and who is going to pay what. I guess Sun sends packages from/to foreign countries very often, so I hope we get support from them. Once packages have been delivered to NLC projects, things are much easier. IMHO, no taxes/duties occur when you don't sell the goods, but I'll check that. Thanks for bringing the point up! > So does this mean that the merchandise is only going to NLC projects Basically, it can go to everyone who is able to coordinate and deliver, but I guess 1-3 persons per country are enough. Up to now, I did not receive much feedback about volunteers, so we'll see how many packages we have to ship. :-) > If not many people are asking then I would put my hand up without any problem > at all. I agree, and I think we can make something out of it. I'd go for simple t-shirts with an easy design, so there is no need for big campaigns. I don't want to put big slogans on the t-shirts. Just some nice merchandise/giveaway. Hope to have the chance for a "real" campaign very soon, of course! > Only problem is, does that come under Sun's definition of Merchandise :) Your ideas are great, and I share them. Actually, it was some suggestion I gave, but for this time, we're "stuck" with merchandise. And I'll fix it to t-shirts and mugs or mousepads, so we can come up with something really soon (still waiting for technical details from vendor). As said, I know communication was not all good this time, but next time I hope it'll be better, so we can plan better and realize some of the ideas we've caught. For now, I just want to have those t-shirts produced. :-) Florian --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
