a) If you want to go the personalized stamp route, then philatelic
covers for/of OOo would be slightly more profitable:
* "Release of OOo 3.x" covers;
* "Software Freedom Day" covers;
* etc;

b) Along the same lines, I'd suggest looking at getting an official
postmark to be used by the local post office, rather than, or in
addition to stamps;

c) If OOo had its own foundation, then it might make sense, from a
marketing POV, for the foundation to exclusively use stamps related to
OOo, whenever it sent out something via snail mail.
(From a strictly economic POV, using "junk stamps" is the best route to
go. For "bulk mailings", the data suggests that "junk stamps" on the
cover generate the highest returns --- both average dollar amount of the
order, and response rate.);

I don't see it as generating any revenue for OOo.

It might have value as a special interest press release. (A specially
designed stamp honouring the release of OOo x.x was created by blah,
blah blah. A philatelic cover honouring this release was created by
blah, blah, blah. Both of these items are available from blah, blah, blah.)

Like pretty much everything else in the project, if you want to do it,
go for it.
