Apparently it's easy to forget that it has also continuously been putting in much of the effort baking it, and that it had provided the cake in the first place. IMO the arrangement was definitely not ideal but also not particularly unfair.
Basically the latter is true, and a very understandable position for people looking from the more outer borders of the community. But people really working at the heart of it, and thus having to deal with the schism of main sponsor versus the rest of the community, will tell different. Despite patience, open attitude and tolerance... Well, take the time to go through the council logs of the past years as first entry point. Where necessary, let yourself being informed about the details and such.
