I understand your point, and I don't understand why "Gallery" should not be translated. It would be something to change in the Dutch OOo as well.
May be for the same reason that for Bibliography ;)
But it seems the problem is more fundamental than separate words, so therefore I would try to start a discussion on the approach to localization, e.g. via the mailing lists I mentioned, or maybe via the persons listed on l10n responsible for the localization of the French SO/OOo. Maybe you get to change some people's minds...
Thanks for your advices and your answers :) I'll talk with our responsible for French localization. Khirano as also kindly open the discussion on the pilot-process list where it should take place now.
