Why exactly are we reopening this discussion now? NetBeans has already dropped JDK 8 support. Development builds have also dropped JDK 11. The JDK support policy was adopted and is available at https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/NETBEANS/Minimum+JDK+build+and+run+policy NetBeans IDE has required JDK 11 since NetBeans 13. NetBeans Platform has required JDK 11 since NetBeans 19. NetBeans 22 IDE and Platform will require JDK 17. We still support building projects using JDK 8, just not running the IDE on it.
