The symptom that started this subthread was "There is an extremely
obscure, semi-inconsistently ir-reproducible bug in AOo, EO, and LibO
that is triggered when "Always create backup copy" is checked. This bug
both destroys data, and prevents the backup copy from being made."

That seems to me to call for a Bugzilla entry that should include
"backup" in its title.

We have a conjecture that the cause is corruption of a file,
registrymodifications.xcu, damage to which is also a cause of
spellchecker not working.

If we are really, really sure that spellchecker failure and backup
failure have the same underlying cause and fix it makes sense to combine
them in a single Bugzilla entry, but I would still like to see "backup"
in the title. If not, maybe we need two entries, one for each symptom,
that may both be fixed by enhancing the handling of
registrymodifications.xcu.

Are you sure "Spell checker does not work" is the most appropriate title
for this problem?

sure, but if you think of a better wording, please do not hestate to
change it.

Maybe you both haven't seen my previous mail in this thread yet.
Therefore here an explicit pointer to the new issue: ;-)

Thanks for the information. Please consider adding it to the
appropriate
Bugzilla issue, once we have one set up.
