Hi Jim, all Regarding your initial question I think it makes sense to move to 5.0 (with all the weight that a .0 version will carry). The changes are big enough to consider it a major new version.
I think that AOO is not in a position to discard the 32bit version under Windows suddenly (given the unknown stability of a brand new 64bit version). It would be better if AOO 5.0 is compatible with 32-bit Windows but if it is not possible, it will probably be a very marginal loss.
