I suppose I should create an issue for this, just because the guidelines say that every assertion failure should be raised as an issue. Still, I shall hold off in case somebody cares to comment.
The reasoning is: If we fix the harmless assertion failures, the remaining ones might point us to more serious problems. So, yes, this should be changed.
