In any case, building all of the infrastructure is going to take time.
We have a need for the sheriff now.
How about hiring one ?
Being a sheriff should normally take less than 20% of your work day,
even with the tools we have now. The time is somewhat scattered, though,
so you'd be limited in what you could do the rest of the time (assuming
you can't switch contexts fast). So I can't think of a way to justify
hiring anyone for that position when we can do it on a rotating duty
with such a minimal impact.
If I know ahead of time that my day is going to be impacted in such a way it
will be 80% wasted, assuming the remaining 20% sheriff is worth that much.
That is, I will not even begin to do anything that is likely to suffer if all
day long I have to scatter. Not all days are like that of course...
How about this: while I waste a 80% of a day playing sheriff, how about you
and Bear spend 6 minutes each every hour of that day fixing repository
bugs ?
Andi..
