How about a simple scheme where you, as the committer, provide a couple e-mail addresses - one for normal e-mail which would get sent a formatted log or something (or a link to one) and one for cell phones which would send something short and sweet.AFAIK Tbox script can not determine how urgent any given failure is.And I certainly would not want it to call me for every failure I might have caused, only as a last resort if IRC or email goes unanswered for a certain period of time. This could of course be automated. SMS reliability is a joke in my experience in the US. I've never (knock on wood) missed an SMS, and I personally would be glad to have tinderbox text me if I might have caused a failure. But if someone wanted to use the short-and-sweet notification for something else because they don't trust SMS (hook it up to their TV maybe, or send to a personal e-mail addres) then they could just give that address instead. Alec All in all I think trying to have Tbox call people seems like too fragile and too much work, although technically interesting challenge. I would expect the sheriff to call only if the failure requires immediate action and can not get a response from the committer on IRC or email in a reasonable time. |
