I am not so sure we can eliminate the sheriff completely, but if I can
be proven wrong I would be happy. It also seems like nobody is
disagreeing that we need sheriff currently because the tools are what
they are.
But since one wanted out: are there others who don't want to help out
with sheriff duties while we improve the tools?
Perhaps we can step back and do some problem solving here...
Heikki and Bear have a need to not be spending all of their time making
sure the build is green and hunting down problems.
Several engineers have expressed a couple of needs:
+ not to have tasks they only do a couple of times a month, because its
a pain to have to figure it all out each time
+ not to have tasks where they are "enforcing" behavior of other engineers
We've had a few proposals for how we might be able to help with both needs:
+ automate some processes so that people don't make common mistakes
Any other suggestions for how we might meet everyone's needs?
Cheers,
Katie
