which is very kind of you, Shaun. :)

I'm really looking forward to seeing our brand, spanking new translation on my own computer!

I did see screenshots of one of Pavel's latest builds today: my first glimpse of our translation in action for OOo 2.1!

It was a great moment, but even two screenshots brought up some QA issues, of four kinds.

Please see:

1. Minor errors in the translation, e.g. non-unique accelerator keys (three of the main menu items use _C)

2. Strings which display in English, despite the translation being complete

3. Characters which don't display correctly (note dark blue window title)

4. Placeholders which haven't been populated

I'm not sure how many of these are translation-specific, but how do I go about fixing them? There will probably be a lot of minor fixes required to ensure the translation is of the quality we expect and can promote, and I want to make sure I'm following the correct procedure. Please instruct me, or point me to instructions. :)

(1) can be fixed in the translation file.

(2) may be fixable in the file, or may be a different problem. I don't know what, though. Why would odd translations not display? See "Model 1" and "Instance 1" on this screenshot:

http://www.riverland.net.au/~clytie/OpenOffice/anhchup/Friedel_09_11/ kiek5.png

(3) may represent old strings typed by a previous translator using decomposed Unicode, or may be a display issue, possibly widget- specific (e.g. window titles) or system-specific (Fedora in this case).

(4) puzzles me. The placeholder in question is in the splash screen on the same screenshot. If you look at this central window, OOO_VENDOR hasn't been populated. Is that an error, or is it OK at this interim release stage? It is quoted in « padded guillemets », because in the original string it would have been quoted in "quotation marks".

Thankyou for your advice. :)
