Apart from the rest you write (I'm not the person to go in
depth there):
the last thing the OpenOffice.org project can use, is that
someone will be writing that OOo is poor on Vista. OTOH,
positive news about how OOo works on Vista, is very good.
So I understand the current focus on Vista and think it is wise.
It is wise, I absolutely agree.
What is NOT wise is ignoring huge usability problems.
It's not my impression that this is the general situation.
Can we jointly do something to improve the situation?
All of us can do what fits with their possibilities, skills.
I do some contributions with marketing and other things, also in my own
country. It's not the same a contributing code to further improve OOo
directly. But getting more people enthusiastic and involved, is very
important for the general well-being of the project.
As we can read on various places, enormous energy is put in creating a
situation - which is quite difficult with such a large product - in
which more people can more easily contribute to the product.
I think that's something that really will help. But we need some
patience. Gradually things will speed up.
Well, that's my opinion. Maybe you have another view, ideas that can de
brought in practice?
Best,
