Hi Andre,
the Java installation does not delete the older/newer Java from your system.
The Java Setup couldn't notice if a newer version is installed. Therefore the
Java Setup installed it beside the other one. The same with an older Java
version. The Java Setup couldn't update the old one therefore it is installed
beside the older one.
I have to ask: why can't the installer interrogate the current status of
installed Java versions and choose NOT to install an older version than
presently available? It's not rocket science, is it? :-)

Also it isn't possible to get always the current Java version in the install
sets. Two weeks ago Java 6 U5 was released and in 2-3 weeks the next Update
is planned. How should it be possible to integrate these versions in the
install sets of OOo 2.4?
This is understood, but see earlier comment about not installing the included
Java if it is discovered to be out-dated at installer run-time.
Yes we know the problem, therefore we decided to integrate Java Updates also
behind CodeFreeze for a release. But this isn't a guarantee that you have
integrated the current Java version in the release at all.
Maybe an option would be to not include Java at all, but merely offer a link to
the Java download site?
