I have to ask: why can't the installer interrogate the current
status of installed Java versions and choose NOT to install an
older version than presently available? It's not rocket science, is
it? :-)
Maybe - but it is not our task to solve this.
Sorry, I thought the installer was part of the project. If it is not,
then who is responsible for it so that they can be alerted to the issue?
Yes we know the problem, therefore we decided to integrate Java
Updates also behind CodeFreeze for a release. But this isn't a
guarantee that you have integrated the current Java version in
the release at all.
Maybe an option would be to not include Java at all, but merely
offer a link to the Java download site?
So - why not download the install package without bundled JRE? Ahh ..
I see, website project offers "with JRE" only for download :( So the
discussion needs to be moved to yet another list.
No. That's not my problem. I download the bundled version for
distribution to my circle of converts who are, to put it kindly, not
computer literate and wouldn't know how to access Java separately. A
link might overcome this hurdle.
