Thorsten, Jan,
Do you think it might work for you, please?
If a process of handling such issues (I wrote about it some mails
ago) exists and the alias aren't a black hole where nothing
happen, than it might work. But it still costs resources in the
mother-project OOo. And this I want to avoid.
No, it is not going to be a black hole. I just hope my proposal is
the least work for you, with potential benefits for all of us.
You will get more than 100 issues per month on the alias. If you do
not have a QA team for evaluating this issues adequately the alias
will be a black hole. From my experience with doing QA and organize
QA processes for a very long time I can tell you, the alias will be a
black hole very quickly.
May I propose something? If we try to stay pragmatical, here's what we
have today:
- an alias Kendy set up.
- a discussion on whether the potential usage of this alias will
generate a black hole :-)
So how about we see what the alias will "catch" for a month and
continue this discussion on these first metrics in one month?
But this is only the half. This is the tooling only. And this is only
the tooling for existing issues or wrongly written issues in IZ. You
want more, when this tooling/process is integrated.
Therefore I asked you to get the approval for this change in direction
of the whole OOo project with CC or ESC. Without any approval I do not
support this tooling or process and asked everybody to do not support
this proposal as well. As I wrote, this costs resources in the OOo
project and at the end the quality of the vanilla project will decrease.
Thorsten
PS.: As I wrote before. If you need issues for the alias. Reopen all
invalid/worksforme issues in IZ and set it on the owner/alias
of your choice. Nearly all of them are problems in Ubuntu or
other derivatives of OOo.
