There isn't anything wrong with the string: it meets all the Unicode requirements for Malayalam text (and goes out of its way to do so such as ZWNJ after a word ending chandrakkala/halant). In addition, it goes further than the ICU 2.4 in recognizing certain sequences. This is the reason why you see dotted circles. However, just seeing dotted circles shouldn't mean anything: several valid sequences in Malayalam *require* the dotted circle, for e.g., rendering of isolated indepdent vowels, rendering marks, and rendering certain isolated pre-base and post-base consonant forms. > Therefore I asked for the > racotf04 font. I really do appreciate all the work you have invested to fix these issues. I hope to continue to co-operate with you in resolving the matters for Malayalam. > But now you tell me that the > font you use does not work on my machine because you made some changes > to the shaping engine. What I have done is, reverted my version of ICU to the standard version that comes with OOo. With this, I took the cursortest1.odt, and saved it in the Anjali font, and took screenshots. All three I have uploaded as attachments with the issue. If you need more info to figure out the bug, then please do tell me.
