A bit like a "sandbox" or "shelter" like we called it in the JavaMoney project.
Looking at some projects like Commons, there are "incubator within the
incubator" examples. Guess any of these might offer a playground for anything
from Joda to Groovy, Scala or other JVM langues for scripting ;-)
