Well, the work on the new forum is in high gear now - we have a solid
group that have said they will be coming over from the OOoForum site.
Folks that are moderators there, with be coming over as moderators
here and the board administrator from the 8daysaweek site will most
likely be the first board administrator.
ooooo---I LIKE this idea! yes, we should definitely add the user forum
link as a feature of a new improved home page or somewhere easily
accessible.
And too bad about the FAQ site...obviously some areas need to be integrated.
OK, these are good bits of information for us to consider!
There is much we would like to look at in the way of integrating into
the other OO.org services. Including, but not limited to offering to
run private or public sub-boards for other projects, groups.
OOoAuthors may be the first to avail themselves of the offer.
I will try and keep this list notified with what will be happening at
the new site, via this mailing list ( not this thread ) and the wiki.

By the way I don't know if you guys have ever looked at how many
people are the responders on the mailing list, an examination of this
for OOoForum was recently done. An overview of the findings can be
found at http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/User:DrewJensen/why_why
. This was part of our planning for the opening of a new user forum
for OO.org users ( Sorry Mathias, some people do like web forums and
some like mailing lists - different strokes for different folks, I
suppose - ;>)
Mailing lists are good for constant contributors. If I only occasionally
have a question around OOo, I'd prefer a forum because my inbox doesn't
get cluttered and I can easily search existing postings. Forums also
usually present a better structure of postings - but do require more
administration. But we also win good feedback for filling docs gaps.
