Suggestions to help new users are always good. Maybe we should have an auto responder with a list of FAQs (the actual ones that pop up on the list every day and not the outdated stuff on the site). Instead of sending the unsubscribed post to the list just send the auto response to the poster. Also a very clear plain easy to understand set of directions to subscribe to the list. Remember we are talking about newbies who probably don't understand all this public list stuff. This would be a big help to the newer user and the list. If the list is going to have a moderator than maybe something could be put in place to take the load off the moderator. This auto responder could also say this is an auto response to the question and explain if the answer was not listed. They can follow the subscribe directions to post on the list. The unsubscribed poster probably doesn't even know the post would have gone to the list and will never even look if they got their answer from the auto responder. They get their answer and they are happy and the list gets speared another post of the same question that has already been on the list 100s of times.
What is so hard about doing this? I am willing to put together a bigger FAQ list than I have already shared earlier. I am not trying to keep new people from getting help I am only trying to cut down on all these annoying FAQs that are asked and answered all the time. -- http://24.197.142.167/ See the OpenOffice.org FAQ Microsoft users go to http://www.pclinuxos.com for a great user friendly Linux experience! --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
