Yes. and to remind: this page could be for the hompeage,
www.openoffice.org... or for the protal. I'd rather have it for
the portal.openoffice.org, and make the homepage even simpler.
????????????? uh...OK, I am quite lost now...I thought this WAS
for a redesign of the home page, which, essentially, would BECOME a
portal.
In time, yes. But for now, we have to deal with the collabnet fact
and the homepage can be a referencer to other sites, including
portal.openoffice.org, which itself could lead to other destinations.
See, for example, opensuse.org
It seems our site and the emerging capabilites it provides/will
provide is getting VERY confusing...esp to those working on it.
yes, I understand. But there are several things (at least going on):
* redesign of the homepage
* construction of the portal.openoffice.org page (it is for this that
the enduser requirements page was about)
* infrastructure requirements discussion (global)
* forums page
At some point, the portal could become the homepage, but not
immediately.
I didn't attend the IRC chat a few days ago. I'd love to get a
summary from Sophie on what went on there.
Evidently I didn't either. But we are discussing lots of things. The
key points here are:
* homepage is not to be confused with the portal.openoffice.org,
which can be any kind of server and which we are aiming to be a
drupal installation
* portal is where the main download will come from and will offer one-
click download.
We need a unifying, non-confusing umbrella folks!
Does this help? I'll send out the email I seem not to have
successfully sent out before
Best
louis
