Why not go with a similar version of what Yahoo! did on the Windows version of their messenger? The integrated the video into their existing message window. They just made the text input and messages shallower. They also give the user the ability to resize each area to their preference. If you double click the video, you go full screen with it. They also offer various other options for switching which is the larger video on screen, and turning audio on and off.
I would like to see something similar, though I'd much prefer the option to move the video out of the chat window, or to switch the video to being along side the chat area, instead of on top of it. If was any decent with photoshop, I'd try to make a mochup of what I'm talking about... Maybe instead of simply enlarging the preview, clicking the video could toggle between video + text and video focused modes? I often do videochats in an open office landscape, where I cannot use audio. So it's video + text instead of video + audio. And I don't think that kind of usage is too uncommon. This is possible in all IM's I have tried, so I don't think Adium should be the first making this kind of use difficult. > >Håvard Pedersen >http://fuzzy76.net/ > > > >On Thu, Feb 3, 2011 at 21:03, George Lambrou <georgelambrou...@gmail.com> wrote: > >I like Mr. Hosey's idea, but not as the main video view.
