I think you can achieve the effect with versioned obsoletes.

glycin-thumbnailer is in package glycin, and gdk-pixbuf-thumbnailer is
in gdk-pixbuf2, right?

I *think* this should achieve the goal:

glycin Obsoletes: gdk-pixbuf2 < 2.43.5-2
gdk-pixbuf2 Obsoletes: gdk-pixbuf2 < 2.43.5-2

That *should* cause glycin to be installed and gdk-pixbuf2 to be
updated, when doing a system update from gdk-pixbuf2 < 2.43.5-2 to
current.

Please yell if you see a problem with this. :P
