Membership is something unneeded for the whole part, not the most part. I don't know why membership is even being discussed any more. It's irrelevant now, isn't it? One of the big complaints has been that XFree86 has had the appearance of an exclusive club. Well, that has been addressed by effectively eliminating the club! Isn't that what the "Open Source Community" wanted? >This time around however seems to be different, as several core >team members have now expressed that if a bugzilla were to be >created, that they would be willing to entertain the idea as long >as they weren't forced to using it. I think I've been fairly consistent about not caring so long as I'm not forced to use it. I also wouldn't force someone else to do something I'm not willing to do myself, so it wouldn't be part of any XFree86 development policy as some have suggested it should be. >We're now being told "show me the money", which is a bit >different IMHO from times people have suggested it in the past. We've now seen with the Linux kernel that it's at least feasible given someone with deep enough pockets. I wasn't aware of a similar precedent when this has come up in the past. Yes, it really is time for you guys to put your money where your mouth is. Don't use the lack of an advance official blessing from XFree86 stop you, because at this point that would be a cop out.
